Uttarkashi is the home of one of the most reputed mountaineering institutes of India i.e. Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. Gangotri is just three hour drive away from Uttarkashi.
Yamunotri Temple: Thousands of tourist visit to Yamunotri temple of Goddess Yamuna from April to October. Yamunotri Temple was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Yamunotri is one of the Char Dham and is also the first place to visit in the Char Dham Circuit. The temple opens on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya and closes on the second day after Diwali festival. The temple holds great significance amongst the Hindus as the places is source of the Yamuna River which is one of the major rivers of India. Chamba: Chamba is one of the best excursions of Dhanaulti as the place offers panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan range and the sacred view of the Bhagirathi River. Chamba is situated 30 kms from Dhanaulti at an altitude of 1676mts above sea level. Chamba is unlike Mussoorie as the place provides peace and tranquility. The place is quite and serene with pine and deodar trees everywhere.
