Barkot is situated on the hills touching the divine Yamuna River in the uttarkashi district of Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state. Barkot is set at an elevation of 1220mts above sea level. Barkot is situated 395kms from Delhi which can be covered in 12hours of time.

Places to see in Barkot

Uttarkashi: It is situated 101kms before Gangotri. Uttarkashi is a beautiful place which is well connected with motorable roads and you can easily get bus or taxi to Gangotri from here. Uttarkashi is located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River at an elevation of 1352mts above sea level. Uttarkashi is the home of one of the most reputed mountaineering institutes of India i.e. Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. Gangotri is just three hour drive away from Uttarkashi.

Yamunotri Temple: Thousands of tourist visit to Yamunotri temple of Goddess Yamuna from April to October. Yamunotri Temple was constructed by Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Garhwal. Yamunotri is one of the Char Dham and is also the first place to visit in the Char Dham Circuit. The temple opens on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya and closes on the second day after Diwali festival. Har Ki Doon can be reached by three day 34kms trek from Sankri.

Chamba: Chamba is one of the best excursions of Dhanaulti as the place offers panoramic views of the majestic Himalayan range and the sacred view of the Bhagirathi River. Chamba is situated 30 kms from Dhanaulti at an altitude of 1676mts above sea level. Chamba is unlike Mussoorie as the place provides peace and tranquility. The place is quite and serene with pine and deodar trees everywhere.
