Binsar

Binsar is surrounded by dense forests where oak, rhododendron, pine and deodar grow in large numbers. Binsar is famous for the excellent view that it offers of the Kumaon hills and the greater Himalayas. The main attraction is the 3000km stretch of the majestic Himalayas and its lofty snow-capped peaks like Kedarnath, Trishul, Nanda Kot, Chaukhamba, Nanda Devi, and Panchachuli. Binsar is particularly famous for its wildlife sanctuary which is spread over an area of 45.59 square km and is home to over 200 bird species.

Binsar is nestled on top of the Jhandi Dhar hills, 33km north of Almora in Uttarakhand in northern India.

Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary: Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 45.59 square kms and is rich in flora and fauna. It has an abundance of wildlife which includes animals like leopards, deer and wild boar and over 200 bird species like Parakeets, Laughingthrush, Magpies and eagles.

Bineswar temple: The famous temple of Lord Shiva is located about 8km from Binsar and is known as Bineswar Mahadev temple. It was built by King Kalyan Chand of the Chand dynasty.

Binsar Sanctuary Museum: Binsar also houses a museum which gives valuable information about the flora and fauna of the sanctuary.

Though you can visit Binsar any time of the year, October-November is the best time to visit Binsar. It is best to avoid the monsoons.
