Elephant Safari in Corbett National Park

Corbett National Park is located at the foothills of the Himalayas near Ramnagar, Nainital in Uttarakhand. Established in 1936, the Corbett National Park was known as Hailey National Park. It was renamed in 1956 as Jim Corbett National Park to honor the legendary hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett. The whole region of Jim Corbett is mountainous and belongs to the Shivalik and Outer Himalaya region. It is India’s first national park to have launched the most famous program of wildlife Project Tiger. Though the park is famous for its tigers, it also home to animals like Leopards, Elephants, Wild Boar, Jungle Cat, Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, Crocodile, Jackal and other lesser known animals.  Jim Corbett National Park also supports a variety of vegetation which includes 110 tree species.

Suggested itinerary for Elephant Safari at Corbett National Park

The elephant safari tour can be a combination of Jeep Safari as well.

Day 1: If you are traveling from Delhi it will take 6-7 hours to reach Corbett. Take a break and then undertake a journey of the Corbett national park with a guide along the Kosi river and enjoy the exotic birds.

Day 2: Arrive at Gharial area in a jeep and drive along Ramganga to look for some fish-eating Gharial and Marsh Crocodiles.

Day 3: After breakfast, drive to he starting point of the Elephant Safari. Take a leisure ride and return to hotel.

Day 4: Start for a daylong wildlife expedition on an Elephant. Take rests in between and enjoy your special ride. After relaxing, continue the elephant safari for the Sonanadi Sanctuary, passing through breathtaking scenery all the way.

Day 5: Enjoy an elephant safari to enjoy exciting wildlife viewing.
